AP Art Concentration
Deciding a theme to have with 12 art pieces was very difficult for me . At first I was convinced I wanted to just paint fruit because I loved the bright colors and textured details. I kept thinking more and more on how I was going to stretch 12 pieces all about fruit and not have them look repetitive. After a while I convinced myself it just wasn't going to work, I decided I was going to depict my life reflected off or through a bubble. This time I knew I was going to stick with it because it was unique. My art teacher, however, thought it was ok, but it could be better. So once again I changed my concentration idea, I decided I was going to draw antiques. I thought for sure this was going to be it! I even started on of my pieces and had already planned the next four. I started my piece on a Wednesday and that Saturday I got into a car crash that has changed my life forever, ( if you would like to know more in detail I encourage you to read my testimony page ).
After that crash I was left in complete and utter shock of God's grace. It took almost loosing my life to realize that God's grace is sufficient for my (and your) pain we just need to put faith in him; because he was there in the beginning and will be there in the end. After this experience I have decided to revolve my concentration around survival, suffering, and specifically God's grace.

My Wreck
January 24, 2015
This piece is extremely personal. After this car wreck I decided to change my concentration to God's amazing grace through survival. I was overwhelmed by the miracle of survival and the refrain from severe injury after this accident. I am a living testament that our king is mighty to save. But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me ( 2 corinthians 12:9 ). It sounds stupid to say but through every brush stroke I was grateful, and more and more filled with praise. I used watercolor for this piece. My first mistake was making it way to big! I am so grateful for the opportunity to share God's everlasting love through my art!

Reflection.
This year has taught me more about time management than technique. At the beginning of the year we needed a piece done every two-weeks and by second semester a piece had to be completed weekly. Even though it was a lot of work I'm glad I stuck to it. Missing the first two weeks of the semester really threw me off, and I feel as if I would've had more time my pieces would have been a lot stronger.I am pleased with a majority of my breathe but my concentration was rushed and extremely last minute. My favorite part of this year besides turning in the portfolios was getting to see everyone else's! Each student has such a unique style it's incredible to see all of their pieces together. Some people are drawn more to realism as others are drawn to imaginative art. If I could do this year over I would manage my time better and try a lot harder on my concentration pieces. I am extremely excited to be pursuing art in college, I look forward to coming back and visiting next year!
